Elvington York Circuit
One of my favourites and a very popular driving experience circuit, Elvington is a great location for driving experiences in Yorkshire and the north of England. It’s wide open airfield track layout is safe and yet very fast and a great place to drive supercars at high speed. You’ll love it’s long straights and combination of chicanes and sweeping turns. Elvington was originally a world war two airfield and still has an active runway, so don’t be surprised if you share the place with aircraft using the runway! Elvington is probably most famous in recent years as the venue that Richard Hammond of Top Gear has his huge accident in a jet powered drag car. But don’t worry, the supercars you’ll drive at Elvington have petrol engines, not jet ones!

Main Features
Based on an airfield, the wide open layout is great for supercar driving days. It’s also used by track day companies that allow you to drive your own car on track. The most popular layout uses a long straigh along one edge of the airfield, before a great double-right hand bend that takes out out onto what used to be the main runway. A chicane half way down makes it technically interesting, before a really big braking area at the end that leads into a twisty section before a long sweeping right back out onto a long straight once more.
Location
Close to the cathedral city of York, you can combine a driving experience day at Elvington with a trip to York and even make a weekend break of it to take in the historic city centre. Finally, not to be missed is the top atraction right next door to Elvington, which is the Yorkshire Air Museum, full of the history of the museum and with great exhibits from the Halifax bomber all the way to the newly arrives Nimrod.
